Marking our mark on Munich

It's our 9th day in Germany and it's still so surreal that we're here! We find ourselves saying, "Oh My God we're in Germany" nearly everyday! I love this place! Berlin was amazing! I was exhausted from the plane ride, but pushed threw and had the best time explorting! The best thing I discovered in Berlin was definitely the flee market Leigh, Mr. and Mrs. Farrand and I stumbled upon. It was HUGE! It sat at the bottom of a hill where people had picnics and beers and there was even belly dancers! It was the craziest thing... until I found THE PANT SUIT. Leigh and I were shopping for some authenic German clothes and came across these great dresses! I bought one! But little did I know that my "dress" was a PANT SUIT! The craziest looking thing ever! I personally blame Professor Farrard who went on and on about what a great find it was, he might just find the hidieous thing in his suitcase when he gets home! haha I posted a great pic for you guys! I'm determined to bring the pant suit to the states!

Once in Munich with pantsuit and all I fell in love with the high fashion shops and the old gorgeous castles in between! My biggest addiction in Berlin was the Market, and here in Munich its the food! For 9 days straight I have ate either sausage or pizza for every meal! Along with trying to eat a sausage a day, I'm also trying to see how many different German Danish I can try while I'm here! They're amazing!

Lastly, my group, studying the Jewish Community in Munich, has made its mark! We spent countless nights before we left calling the community trying to set things up and when we got here they new us by name! We're the "Americans from the school." The receptionist at the Jewish Museum asked if I was Brooke! We've really made an impression and although we're not sure if it's a good one or bad, it's exciting that we're being talked about! The community is BEAUTIFUL! With a new synagogue and new museum we learned so much and are so excited about our topic! There you have it... some of Brooke's favorite things thus far! Oh and the castles today were so exciting too!

Internet, Bitte?

I think it's safe to say that everyone on this trip has been enjoying the experience of visiting a foreign country and learning about another culture.  It's refreshing to see new sites and try different foods, and we have all been enjoying the German beer!  Of course, there are always some challenges that go along with being in another country...like trying to communicate with someone who barely knows English!  We have also learned that, unfortunately, the internet is much less harder to find here than in America.  Good luck trying to pick up on wireless here - as you can see in the picture on the left, our group is currently sitting outside of the Apple store to post our blogs!  We might look a little suspicious, but at least we're promoting their products by using a MacBook.

Despite having to get used to checking our email and facebooks much less often, Munich has been a lot of fun.  It has been kind of chilly and rainy for most of our stay here, but yesterday we got the chance to see some of the city on our bike tour.  In the picture below you can see Ellen and I with the beautiful city in the background!  You can also see how many bikes we had- imagine a group of almost 20 people riding through the little cobblestone
streets.  It was nice to get out and see more of the city, and luckily this time there weren't any bike accidents :)
